Ph.D. positions for CSC scholarship candidates at Aalborg University, Denmark.
Research topics:
• Design, modeling and optimization of fuel cells or electrolyzers at single cell, stack and system levels
• Experimental characterization of fuel cells or electrolyzers
• Advanced fuel cell control systems for reformed methanol fuel cells for automotive application
• PEM fuel cell state of health monitoring and diagnostics
University profile
Aalborg University is one of the largest universities in Denmark. It is ranked No. 4 in the world in Engineering and No. 1 in Europe according to U.S. News & World Report. The university has a strong tradition in engineering with a “problem-based learning” approach and according to the MIT report “The global state of the art in engineering education”, it is evaluated as the best engineering program in Europe.
Research program profile
The fuel cell research programme is multidisciplinary that involves areas such as electrochemical, mechanical, control and electrical engineering. The group counts around 15 people and conducts research in the fields of fuel cells and electrolyzers, from single cells to stacks and systems. The group is involved in both experimental and modelling and simulation activities. There is a strong focus on cooperation with a large network of multinational companies and other internationally renowned universities and research centers on relevant applications, such as micro-CHP, automotive, drones and more. The laboratory is a recently renovated state of the art facility.
What to expect
The PhD project in Denmark is 3 years. Chinese students who are enrolled in a PhD program are waived tuition fees. The department supports students with funding for conferences and other external collaboration, including 3 to 6 months study abroad in another renowned university. PhD students can rent affordable accommodations provided by the University International Office. In addition, enrolled students receive a personal laptop and smartphone (with phone subscription valid within Denmark for the duration of the PhD period).
