President Trump and Chancellor Angela Merkel have led the tribute to the Chinese Nobel Prize laureate Liu Xiaobo who’s died of liver cancer. But his death has not been acknowledged by the government in Beijing which had sentenced him to 11 years in prison for subversion. There has been no mention of Mr. Liu in mandarin language state media and international reports of his death have been scented in China.

President Trump has hinted that the United States’ position on climate change could alter. At a news conference in Paris, Mr. Trump said something could happen with respect to the Paris Accord on Climate Change from which the US withdrew six weeks ago. Its host President Emmanuel Macron has said he hoped to persuade him about the merits of the accord.
