1. 新材料/新结构纤维:将过去不以纤维形式存在的材料(尤其是半导体),制作成纤维;对仅有单一结构的纤维,丰富其结构多样性;
2. 多功能纤维器件:一根毫毛,多般变化。将多以平面形式制作的功能器件集成到细如发丝的纤维当中,让一根纤维保持其超大长径比的同时,也是闪光灯、也是摄像头、又或者是电池等。其应用领域包括但不限于传感、通讯、计算、能源收集及储存和神经接口等;
招收1-2名于2026年1月或9月入学的博士生,享受PolyU奖学金,每月HK$18840 (before Qualifying Examination)或HK$19270(after Qualifying Examination),及一次性会议资助HK$25000。
1. 在国内外已获得或即将获得博士学位,具有热电器件、电池或柔性电子相关的研究背景;
2. 科研能力及英语水平较好,在本专业主流国际期刊以第一作者发表过SCI论文;
请将以下材料发送至 zhixun.wang@polyu.edu.hk:

PhD and Postdoctoral Researcher Positions at EEE@PolyU (PI: Dr. WANG Zhixun)
Research Topics:
1. Fibers of New Materials/New Structures: Develop fibers from materials that have not previously been fabricated in fiber form (especially semiconductors); explore and enhance the structural diversity of existing fibers that currently have only a single structure.
2. Multifunctional Fiber Devices: A single strand, many transformations. Integrate planar-type devices into hair-thin fibers, enabling a single fiber—while maintaining its ultra-high aspect ratio—to function as a flashlight, camera, battery, and more. Applications of multifunctional fibers include, but are not limited to, sensing, communication, computing, energy harvesting and storage, and neural interfaces.
3. Multifunctional Fabrics: The ultra-high aspect ratio of fiber devices makes them particularly suitable for integration into wearable systems. Strands of multifunctional fibers can be combined through weaving, printing, or bonding to create "smart garments."
PhD Student (with Scholarship):
Seeking 1-2 PhD students to enroll in Jan. 2026 or Sep. 2026 entry, with a scholarship provided by PolyU. The monthly stipend is HK$18,840 (before the Qualifying Examination) or HK$19,270 (after the Qualifying Examination), plus a one-time conference grant of HK$25,000. Students with strong motivation for research and backgrounds in electronics, physics, materials, chemistry, mechanical engineering, or related fields are welcome to apply (for admission requirements, please refer to https://www.polyu.edu.hk/study/p ... rements−rpg).
Outstanding candidates are encouraged to apply for the Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme (HKPFS) for Sep. 2026 entry. Awardees will receive a tuition fee waiver, an annual stipend of HK$337,200 and an annual conference grant of HK$14,000 during their PhD studies, as well as an additional cash allowance (HK$40,000 for the first year, and HK$20,000 per year from the second year to the end of the normal study period). High-calibre foreign students are welcome to apply for The International PhD Fellowship Scheme (IPFS).
Postdoctoral Fellow:
Seeking 1-2 postdoctoral fellows. Competitive remuneration will be offered. Candidate should:
1. Have or be about to obtain a PhD degree, with a background in thermoelectric devices, batteries, or flexible electronics;
2. Have a strong research track record and good English proficiency, with first-author papers published in leading journals;
3. Be a team player.
Outstanding candidates are also encouraged to apply for the RGC Junior Research Fellow Scheme (please refer to https://www.ugc.edu.hk/eng/rgc/funding_opport/jrfs/index.html for the details).
