墨尔本大学简介：
墨尔本大学（the university of melbourne），简称墨大，始建于1853年，是一所公立研究型大学，位于澳大利亚维多利亚州首府，以文化艺术气息浓厚而著称的国际城市墨尔本。在最新世界大学排名中，usnews世界大学排名第26位，全澳第一，泰晤士报世界大学排名第32位，全澳第一，arwu世界大学学术排名第39位，全澳第一。建校以来，其培养出数十万遍布世界的优秀校友，包括8位诺贝尔奖得主（全澳第1）、120位罗德学者（全澳第1) 、4位澳大利亚总理、5位澳大利亚总督等各领域知名人士。

导师简介：
prof. ling-zhi cheong, 2008年博士毕业于马来西亚博特拉大学酶和食品生物技术专业。曾任丹麦奥胡斯大学分子生物/工程系任助理教授、全球500强丰益国际丰益全球生物技术研发中心任高级研究员，宁波大学教授等职务，现任墨尔本大学农业与食品科学教授。担任国际学术期刊 food chemistry 编委, journal of americans chemical society 副主编。主要从事食品结构脂质的绿色生物制造领域及酶固定化技术领域的科研工作。研究成果已在国际核心期刊发表 sci论文和专著 100多 篇，撰写专著章节 4 部，位列全球农业科学领域前1%科学家。

博士课题：valorization of waste cooking oils into value-added bioproducts
课题简要：one of the strategies delineated in the australia’s roadmap to halve food waste by 2030 is to create new value from food waste streams and reducing waste ending up in landfill. waste cooking oils is a food waste stream generated from cooking and frying food with vegetable oils. if not properly managed and disposed of, it will block drainage systems, damage concrete, and contaminate soil, plants, and aquatic habitats. an exciting new phd opportunity involving material chemistry, biomass processing and catalysis chemistry exists to develop strategies to upcycle and valorize wco. the project will develop new catalysts/biocatalysts capable of transforming highly acidic oils into valuable bioproducts (biochemicals/biolubricants/biodiesels).

招生要求：

        a msc or a bsc with 1st class honours (or equivalent) in a relevant science discipline.
        background or interest in catalytic chemistry and biomass processing technology.
        knowledge on computational simulation and molecular dynamics to study catalysts is an added advantage.
        good verbal and written communication skills.
