Two PhD positions with full scholarship is available in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST), in the broad area of structural health monitoring and structural engineering.
About the position:
The research direction will center around advanced sensing and structural analysis. Possible research topics include integration of advanced structural monitoring technologies and nonlinear structural analysis, machine learning for structural damage quantification, and the development of new structural systems. The expected starting time is Fall 2024 or Spring 2025. Excellent candidates will be recommended to apply for the Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme (HKPFS).
Your profile:
You have a master's or bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related fields.
● A strong background in mechanics and mathematics is required
● A strong background in programming, such as Python, Matlab, C++
● Background in continuum/computational mechanics is of advantage.
● You are proficient in spoken and written English.
