Dr. Hongyu Wu, a Lucas-Rathbone Professor (https://ece.k-state.edu/about/people/faculty/wu/), in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Kansas State University, is hiring several fully-funded Ph.D. students to join his group starting at spring 2024. The research areas include but are not limited to, smart grid cybersecurity, machine learning, power system planning, energy management, and the application of electric vehicles in the grid.
The Smart Energy System Laboratory at Kansas State University's College of Electrical and Computer Engineering is currently accepting applications for Ph.D. positions. We are particularly interested in students who demonstrate strong motivation and a solid foundation in one or more of the following areas:
1. Smart grid cybersecurity
2. Power system planning and operation
3. Big data analytics and machine learning for smart grids
4. Building/home energy management
5. Integration of renewable energy and electric vehicle in smart grids
Preferred qualifications for applicants include:
1. Master's degree in Electrical Engineering (M.S. in Electrical Engineering)
2. Excellent oral and written communication skills
3. Proficiency in programming (MATLAB, Python, etc.)
The anticipated starting date is the spring of 2024.
Kansas State University is a public research university (Carnegie R1) located in Manhattan, Kansas, with one of the top power engineering programs in the Midwest of the United States. The Smart Energy System Laboratory has a distinguished history of excellence in the field of power and energy systems. GRE requirements may be waived for outstanding candidates.
