加拿大阿尔伯塔大学University of Alberta 建筑科学专业 Building Engineering/Building Science 招收博士生 (2022 fall, 2023 winter, spring) 以下信息由导师Dr. Yuxiang Chen 教授提供。

There are fully funded Ph.D. positions at the IDOBE (Intelligent Design & Operation for Built Environment) research group University of Alberta, Edmonton, Canada. IDOBE group and Dr. Yuxiang Chen are looking for applicants with an MSc degree, at least one published conference paper, and one submitted journal paper; a strong background in:

Most engineering disciplines (e.g., mechanical, civil and environmental, electrical, chemical and materials).
Computer science
Applied math


Exceptions can be made for highly motivated/self-funded students from other disciplines

The IDOBE group is dedicated to the goal of building a diverse and inclusive academic community. The IDOBE group focuses on the modelling, design, and operation of sustainable buildings, communities, greenhouses, and their systems, with the following keywords:
Thermal (heat transfer), illumination (natural and electric)
Physics-based and data-driven (machine learning, Bayesian estimation) modelling
Experimental, theoretical, and application
Modular, additive, prefabricated, and robotic construction
Energy-efficient, resilient, and sustainable
Computational and intelligent design and management

Examples of ongoing projects:
Modelling, design, and operation of building-integrated thermal energy storage;
Intelligent design and construction of masonry buildings;
Advanced thermal modelling and calculation of effective thermal resistance;
Design and data-driven modelling of hybrid heating systems;
Energy-efficient community greenhouses for cold-climate regions;
Adaptive system identification for predictive control;
Integrated design and operation for room thermal conditioning, daylighting, and electric lighting.
