the university of dundee is one of the world's top 250 universities (times higher education world univerisity rankings), ranked number 1 in studentcrowd's 5 best scottish universities 2022. it has been given a 5 star rating by the qs ranking, the international higher education specialists. dundee is ranked the second safest city in the uk. research areas: lightweight material and manufacture (light alloys, composites), materials processing, metal forming, electric vehicles, lithium-ion batteries, etc. you are also welcome to discuss any other related areas in which you are interested and want to do a phd. dundee has a special agreement with csc and is allocated 10 scholarships each year. importantly, this programme is often undersubscribed. so if the candidate meets csc requirements, chances of getting a scholarship - with an offer from dundee - should be quite high! deadline is 31 january 2023 for the first stage application of phd in the university of dundee. after receiving the offer letter from the university of dundee, the second stage is to apply for csc. please contact dr wenbin zhou (w.zhou15@imperial.ac.uk, https://www.imperial.ac.uk/people/w.zhou15)with your cv for further information as soon as possible. dr zhou will join the university of dundee on 2 january 2023 as an assistant professor, he has published ~20 first-author journal papers in the areas of materials, manufacture and renewable energy. you will be fully supported during your phd to publish high-quality papers and finish within 3-4 years. there will be opportunities for visiting and collaborations with cambridge university, imperial college london, central south university etc. you can choose to stay in central south university for several months per year to do research if you want.
