Ning Lab (https://facultyprofile.csuohio.e ... m?FacultyID=l_ning) from the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Cleveland State University (CSU) (https://www.csuohio.edu/) has two fully funded openings for Ph.D. students, with anticipated start date in May, 2023 or thereafter.
Our research interests are in the areas of mechanical and biomedical engineering, with particular emphasis on developing the next generation of tissue analogues by integrating advanced biomanufacturing techniques, materials/biomaterials, and cell/stem cells techniques for human disease modelling and regenerative medicine. Research areas of particular interest include:
1) Advanced biomanufacturing/manufacturing technologies and systems, including 3D printing/bioprinting.
2) Development of biomaterials and nanomaterials.
3) Human disease modelling (e.g, cardiovascular diseases and cancers) and regenerative medicine.
4) Machine learning and its application in manufacturing.
Candidates with backgrounds in mechanical engineering, biomedical engineering, or other related disciplines are encouraged to apply. All applicants should meet the language admission requirements from CSU (https://www.csuohio.edu/internat ... sion-requirements). All research projects require hands-on skills. Experiences in computational modelling and simulations, bioinformatics, equipment and systems, and cell biology will be considered as assets for the candidates.
The graduates from CSU’s Mechanical Engineering programs possess the engineering skills that empower them to be successful in their careers of choice. You can be a mechanical engineer who can take a product from an idea to the marketplace, in such industries as robotics and automation, manufacturing, automotive, aerospace, energy conversion, biotechnology, computers, and electronics, or you can launch a career in other fields, such as medicine, law, consulting, management, banking, and finance. The Ning lab seeks to support students with an inclusive environment and prepare them to be competitive in future career paths, and will train them towards becoming independent scholars, creative engineers, and critical thinkers. We also provide plenty of opportunities to work and collaborate with research teams at Case Western Reserve University and Cleveland Clinics.
To apply, please send your CV, cover letter and contact information of 3 references to Dr. Liqun Ning at l.ning@csuohio.edu. Any questions regarding the application can also be sent to the email address.
