The American vice president Joe Biden has lent his support toIraq's beleaguered government during a brief unannouncedtrip to Bagdad, his first in five years. The White Housespokesman Josh Earnest said the visit was a good indication ofthe United States' continued support for efforts by the PrimeMinister Haider al-Abadi to unify Iraq to confront the Islamicstate group. “There are two critical priorities that Prime Minister al-Abadi has identified. The first isobviously the fight on the ground that Iraqi forces are waging against ISIL inside of Iraq.
