PhD students Openings at University of Notre Dame
Professor Yanliang Zhang’s lab at the University of Notre Dame (A top 20 University in US) have multiple PhD student opening positions. Prof. Zhang’s lab is working on cutting-edge research topics including additive manufacturing and scalable nanomanufacturing of functional materials and devices, energy conversion and storage, flexible/wearable electronics and sensors for health monitoring, and soft robotics. Our research is multidisciplinary in nature, and we welcome students of all engineering and science majors to apply. The students have the opportunity to receive a PhD degree in Mechanical Engineering, and a secondary PhD degree in Materials Science and Engineering if they participate in the MSE doctoral program. The mission of Professor Zhang’s lab is to innovate and transform materials processing and manufacturing science and technology in order to improve energy and environmental sustainability and individual wellbeing by addressing grand challenges our society is facing. To do so, we have established a transformative nanoscale-to-macroscale engineering approach that synergistically integrates fundamental and applied research programs into a coherent effort.

Professor Zhang is a Tenured Associate Professor. He is a recipient of the prestigious National Science Foundation Career Award, and Young Investigator Award from International Thermoelectric Society.
