Ph.D positions (energy materials for battery application) are currently available in the Department of Mechanical and Materials Engineering at the University of Western Ontario, Canada. Applicants with materials, chemistry/chemical, and physics backgrounds are encouraged to apply. The ideal candidates should be highly motivated and have competent English communication skills. The positions will start in May 2021 or Sept 2021 (Application deadline: Oct 2020 or Feb 2021)The applicants should possess English Language Proficiency from the department. TOEFL: The minimum acceptable score is 86, with no individual score below 20 for the internet-based version; 213 for the standard electronic version; or 550 for the paper and pencil version; IELTS: the minimum acceptable score is 6 out of 9 in the individual bands, with an overall score of 6.5 or higher. Dr. Yang Zhao will join the Department of Mechanical and Materials Engineering at the University of Western Ontario as an Assistant Professor from Jan 2021. Dr. Zhao received his B.S. and M.S. degrees from Northwestern Polytechnical University (Xi'an, China) in 2011 and 2014, respectively. He obtained his Ph.D. degree under the supervisor of Prof. Xueliang (Andy) Sun from the University of Western Ontario in 2018. Then, he has his postdoc training at the University of Western Ontario and the Advanced Light Source of Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory in 2019-2020. His current research interests focus on atomic/molecular layer depositions, next-generation batteries, and synchrotron-based X-ray techniques.
