prof. chin-teng lin who is the distinguished professor with the school of computer science, faculty of engineering and it, university of technology sydney, is currently looking for high talented students able to be enrolled in the spring semester 2020 (july) or autumn semester 2021 (february). prof. lin is the director of cibci lab as well as the co-director of centre for artificial intelligence, university of technology sydney.the mandatory requirements for candidates:
1. strong interests in artificial intelligence, especially deep learning / deep reinforcement learning oriented. or brain computer interface research (virtual reality/augmented reality, driving, navigation, robot control).
2. gpa falls into the top 30%, or alternatively average score of subjects recorded in official transcript(s) no less than 85.0. (or alternative equivalence due to grading system)
3. master degree with majoring in science or engineering, such as math, information science, computer science, biomedical science, electrical engineering (signal processing), etc.
4. well-balanced skills in research and engineering. it means solid theoretical foundation with programming skills.
5. ielts with 6.5 on average and 6.0 for writing component (must be satisfied upon application).
preferences:
2. have a strong academic demonstration (like published papers, carrying on project related to research) or rich working experience (in leading related international companies, the working experience can be linked to the upon-taking research)
3. demonstrate good english skills, like higher ielts scores.
4. computer skills like programming in matlab, python, c++.
5. basic understanding of machine learning algorithm, especially deep neural network. or equivalent eeg signal processing or can conduct experiment with it.
6. some framework or libraries depends on your research interests: tensorflow, eeglab, visual studio/unity, etc.
7. nice personal characteristics like honest, integrity, hard-working, cooperative and team-playing.
we might only open exceptions for very talented students such as acm winners.

the scholarship includes tuition fee waiver and living allowance around aud 27,000/year which is tax-free.
