Full scholarship PhD student positions (33,000 AUD/year) available in the Advanced Scanning Probe Microscopy of Functional Materials group of Dr Pankaj Sharma at the College of Science & Engineering, Flinders University, Bedford Park, Adelaide, Australia. We employ a wide range of experimental material characterization techniques including cutting-edge scanning probe microscopy (SPM) and spectroscopic techniques to study the properties of advanced functional materials, surfaces and interfaces at the nanometre length scales. The SPM technique includes piezoresponse force microscopy, Kelvin probe force microscopy, conductive atomic force microscopy, electrostatic and magnetic force microscopy, etc. The research focuses on (multi-) ferroelectrics, 2D van der Waals layered materials, and electronic devices.

Our group currently has several Australian Research Council-supported openings for PhD students. We seeking PhD candidates with experience and knowledge of ferroelectric thin films and devices, piezoresponse force microscopy, and other advanced scanning probe techniques for developing novel data storage and low-energy electronics applications. Students with a strong background in ferroelectrics and SPM are highly encouraged to apply (publications in these areas would be highly regarded).

Please email Dr. Sharma (pankaj.sharma@flinders.edu.au) with your CV to enquire about these PhD openings and further details on how to apply.
